This webinar explores the work of the Maryland Braille Task Force and the development of the Maryland Common Core State Curriculum Frameworks for Braille. These frameworks for English/Language Arts and Mathematics identify the braille skills by grade level that are needed for access to the Common Core.
These skills include: braille contractions, punctuation, and other symbols in the literary code, Braille signs for formatting, Nemeth Code, and tactile graphics.
Several documents are available to stakeholders in the field of education of the blind and visually impaired. The documents and training are useful for participants in any state. An in-depth exploration of the usefulness and versatility of these documents will aide educators in tracking student progress, writing IEP goals, and advocating for services for students who are blind or visually impaired.
