Hope is TVI/Education Consultant who works as part of the Children’s Services Unit of BESB - a division of the State of Connecticut Department of Aging and Disability Services. Education Consultants and other professionals from this unit cooperate to serve children ages 0-21. Hope and her colleagues recognize the importance of providing quality instruction in the ECC or Expanded Core Curriculum. Students who receive instruction in these areas go on the develop the knowledge and skills they need to meet with success within and beyond the classroom. The 9 areas of the ECC include the following: compensatory skills, sensory efficiency, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, independent living, interpersonal skills, recreation and leisure, career exploration and self-determination.
