iOS 12 Accessibility and New Features

AppleVis continues to be a strong resource for accessibility of Apple products. Their group of accessibility experts have been involved with beta testing throughout the year, have provided feedback to Apple and are sharing information with users. Here is what AppleVis has to say about accessibility bugs introduced and resolved in iOS 12.  FYI: it is exciting to see that the bug list is short!

New Gestures for iPad Users (new iPads are expect to lose the physical Home button)

  • To go to the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom until you hear the first sound.
  • To open the App Switcher, swipe up from the bottom until you hear the second sound.
  • To open Control Center, swipe down from the top until you hear the first sound.
  • To open Notification Center, swipe down from the top until you hear the second sound.
  • To cancel a gesture, slide your finger either to the left or to the right.
