An internship is defined as 'the position of a student or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification.' Some students with visual impairments have wonderful book knowledge, but lack job experience, especially job experience in STEM fields. It is often challenging to land that first job when competing with peers who do have job experience. Internships are a wonderful way to build job experience and to expand your network in your desired field.
