Using and Editing a Microsoft Word Document

A video showing how to navigate and edit a Microsoft Word Document, using JAWS on a PC.

Below is a video demonstrating the basic JAWS commands used to navigate and edit a Microsoft Word document.

Commands I Used:

 

Alt + P, O — command to change the orientation of the page.

Alt + V, Z — command to zoom in or out.

Ctrl + L — command to move to the left top of the page.

Ctrl + R — command to move to the right top of the page.

Ctrl + E — command to move to the center of the page.

Ctrl + C — command to copy whatever is selected.

Ctrl + X — command to cut whatever is selected.

Ctrl + V — command to paste after copy or cut.

shift + arrow key — command to select by character by character. 

Ctrl + Shift + arrow key — command to select by word or sentence.

Ctrl + Home — command to go to the top to the page.

Ctrl + End — command to go to the very end of the page.

Home key — command to go to the front of the sentence.

End key — command to go to the end the the sentence.

Caps lock key + K— hit caps lock three times + K command to have JAWS spell out the word.

Ctrl + N — command to create a new page.

Alt + tab — command to switch between pages. Also works for between programs.

Alt + Enter — command to go down a page.

Alt + H, V — command to go into the header. To get out, just get Escape once.

Application key — arrow into a word that is incorrect and hit this command. It will give corrections to the word. Then hit enter to replace.

Insert + f7 — command to start spell check.

 

There are many more commands to word, but these are the basics.
