SAS Accessibility Webinar: Exploring Accessible Campus Maps

SAS Graphics Accelerator recently released the ability to create and access customized digital maps using their cutting-edge software. With the current school closures, these accessible digital maps can be used to fill a critical need for rising college freshman. Orientation and Mobility Instructors can provide remote instruction using these digital maps; college students can virtually explore and learn about their college campus from the safety of their own homes. The SAS Graphics Accelerator maps are designed to provide information similar to a visual map; however, these accessible maps do not look like a traditional visual map. Keep in mind that visual maps are read with your eyes; tactile maps are 'read' with your fingertips and these accessible digital maps are intended to be 'read' with your EARS.

So, the accessible digital maps look different - how do you interact with these maps? In a recent webinar, SAS explained how to create customized maps using SAS Graphics Accelerator and Google Maps. (Recording of that webinar will be available soon.) The next webinar will demonstrate how to use these accessible maps to virtually explore college campuses.
