Podcasts are a good source of information, entertainment, and education. Perkins recently released a Podcast called eLearning to go. I mentioned it to a colleague of mine, and she responded “what is a podcast? I have never listened to one before”. A Podcast is a digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically. Here is a step-by- step guide on how to download the various apps that allows you listen on iPhone/android phones, or on your computer.
I personally listen to Podcasts all the time. When I am at school, cleaning the house, going for a walk, or traveling in my car. They make my drive and cleaning both entertaining and educational. I have even shared several with colleagues and students. We discuss them afterward, and share our views on the topics discussed. Some of my students have even made recommendations of their own. A blind friend of mine described it as “old time radio hour” which he said he loved as a kid. So, go ahead a listen, and let me know if you find any podcast that you particularly enjoyed or you if you need recommendations.
