Do you have a student who visually struggles to see a map but does not use a screen reader? SAS Graphics Accelerator - a free Google extension for accessible non-visual digital maps - has a self-voicing option!
SAS Graphics Accelerator supports a “self-voicing” feature within Graph View and Map View. This feature provides auditory output for charts, graphs, and maps without a screen reader.
Follow these steps to enable it:
- Click on the SAS Graphics Accelerator icon in the Chrome tool bar. It looks like a blue s.
- In the popup, click Options.
- On the Options page, select “Web speech” for the Self-voicing feature option.
- Click Save.
