This tutorial looks at the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems with children with visual impairments and additional disabilities. Children with visual impairments and concomitant disabilities have complex communication needs requiring Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems. Visual, motor, and cognitive skills must be considered when designing communication programs. AAC assessment, intervention, and prioritization of skill development will be discussed.
