This module includes two sessions. The first one examines the Core Curriculum, the Common Core State Standards, the Expanded Core Curriculum, and how these can be aligned for students with visual and multiple disabilities. The second session describes a Functional Curriculum and Theme Based Instruction, both of which are very important in fostering school success for students with visual and multiple disabilities.
The tutorial uses the text Keys to Educational Success: Teaching Students with Visual Impairments and Multiple Disabilities, which is available from APH Press.
Participants will earn 10 ACVREP, PDP, CE, or CTLE credits by viewing the video presentations and lectures, and completing the assignments.
This is a web-based, self-guided professional development activity for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs), Orientation & Mobility Specialists, teachers of students with moderate/severe disabilities, teachers of deafblind students, & related service personnel.
