My first introduction to Cortical Vision Impairment was during my Masters of Education training (Education of the Blind or Visually Impaired) through Mount Saint Vincent University, and later, when I first began working as a vision consultant in Alberta prior to my move to British Columbia. I support students of multiple abilities and complex needs, which includes those diagnosed with CVI, or doctors queerying CVI. I work with vision consultants on my team, therapists (OT, PT, SLP and Psychologists), families, ophthalmologists, and educational professionals working with these students in assessing where they are on the range and with the strategies that can be implemented to support and increase the use of their vision. I am consistently looking for more information, which includes attending Dr. Roman's workshop in Calgary (May 2019), reading and utlizing her books, gathering other resources online and in print, collaborating with colleagues, and attending webinars and online workshops/lessons.
