From the beginning of my career in an integrated preschool classroom 20 years ago, I have taught a wide range of children with visual impairments. I learned many strategies working with students with VI from a colleague who used to come work with them. Years later, inspired by this colleague that taught me so much, I obtained my Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certificate and have been working as an itinerant TVI with all ages and types of visual impairments. About 1/3 of my caseload are children with CVI, at different ages and phases.
Before getting endorsed, I administered the CVI range and felt pretty comfortable using it, but I wanted to ensure that I was indeed administering it correctly. Now, I love being able to confidently administer the range and implement strategies that are unique to each student to support and guide his/her learning! Then, teaching family members and professionals so that they can embed these strategies into their daily routines! !
I am available to:
Provide ongoing, direct service to a child with CVI within 50 miles of my home address
Provide one time evaluation services and consultation
