Teacher Consultant of the Blind and Visually Impaired
Degree: M.Ed.
My first experiences with CVI date back to 2006 when I actually worked as an educational assistant in a segregated classroom. I didn't know virtually anything about CVI at the time, but a few of the students I was working with had this diagnosis so it prompted me to do some of my own research and bring forward some strategies that I had learned. I only worked in this role for a short time before leaving this position to pursue additional training/certifications in the field of education. In 2008, I was doing my Master's degree in BVI and completed a significant number of my practicum hours again working with this population of students. The beautiful advantage of this was having the time to really "dive deep" and apply what I had learned in my program, as I got lots of 1:1 time with the students. Since 2014, I have been working full-time as an educational consultant, which allows me to do a lot of CVI Range assessments, which are then used to inform programming
