My CVI experience has been as part of my work on the Maryland and DC Deafblind project. This experience includes having a mentor that has guided me on how to use and implement the CVI Range. Together we have completed the CVI Range on at least a dozen students around the state of Maryland. Then, my mentor guided me on how to use the information from the range to develop and incorporate best practices and CVI strategies into a students’ day. Within this, I have worked and discussed with families their goals and education philosophy for their child while completing the family interview section of the CVI Range. Professionally, I have also been a part of the CVI Mentorship program from 2003- 2008 and again in 2008- 2013. During these years, other workshops I attended through the MD and DC Deafblind project were the Summer Institute 2013, 2015 and 2017. I am excited to be CVI endorsement and look forward to supporting more kids and families in MD and DC.
