While I have my M.Ed in the area of BVI; and as a part of that have successfully completed coursework in the area of CVI; I find that I have been seeking out academic resources (mainly those created by Christine Roman) as well as webinars in the area of CVI in order to improve upon my knowledge and expertise. CVI is a very complex area of need for children with a visual impairment. Combine that with other areas of disability and multiple specialists, and the need for a strong background in the area of assessment and progamming for CVI becomes extremely important.
Initially, my caseload consisted of only 1 child diagnosed with CVI. I have seen this number increase over the past 2 years, and want to ensure that my knowledge is the best it can be in an area that is growing in my community.
I look forward to the challenge of learning more about CVI, and improving my ability to assess, report, and program for the children I work with.
