The following information is from the Mannequin Mart website:
A greatly enlarged (105 times) cross sectional view of the human skin showing three layers and a close-up view of a hair follicle, sweat gland, fatty tissue and more. Front, side and back view. Not dissectible.
The model shows the structures of the human scalp as follows:
1. Structure of the skin: epidermis, dermis, hypodermis.
2. Appendages of the skin : the sweat glands, the sebaceous glands, the hairs.
3. Blood vessels and nerves of the skin.
Made of Fiberglass/Plastic Material
Height: 13 Inches.
Width: 11.6 Inches
This model provides a very detailed description of the skin. The size of the model (enlarged 105 times) is incredibly important in providing appropriate tactile information. With guidance, students are able to clearly feel the hair follicles, hair, sweat glands, oil glands, etc.
As the model is so large, I will sometimes even have two students studying it at the same time.
I have not found any problems with this model.
This oversized model of the skin can be ordered from mannequinmart.com.
The current cost of this model is $64.99 but the site indicates that the cost had been $84.48. It is unclear what the regular price is.
