Here is timely information on two products: VisioBook® and Refreshabraille 18™.
These items are no longer available from APH due to manufacturer supply issues.
APH has been pleased to offer the VisioBook and Refreshabraille 18 for a number of years, and we regret that these circumstances are beyond our control. We apologize for the inconvenience.
APH is no longer accepting new orders for VisioBooks and Refreshabrailles.
For your convenience, we would like to suggest two similar products to meet the needs of your students. You can visit our website at shop.aph.org for more information.
MATT Connect™ – Much like VisioBook, the MATT Connect is a portable magnifier and distance viewer – but it is also full Android™ tablet with many available functions. It also offers a simplified mode if it is desirable to reduce the number of functions.
Orbit Reader 20™ – The Orbit Reader is the next evolution in refreshable braille technology at a fraction of the cost of similar devices. The Orbit Reader 20 should be available within the next few months.
Existing Back Orders
APH will not be able to fill existing backorders, but we will be able to reissue Quota funds.
If you have VisioBooks or Refreshabrailles on backorder, we have learned that we will be able to reissue the exact amount of the Quota funds used to you, so that you can use these funds for other materials and equipment from APH that your students need. We will have the system of reissuing funds in place by mid-January and will contact EOTs with the details at that time. Funds will need to be spent in full no later than March 31st, 2018.
Repairs of VisioBooks and Refreshabrailles
APH continues to be able to make limited repairs to VisioBooks and Refreshabrailles.
The manufacturer of VisioBook and Refreshabraille is no longer able to supply many of the parts needed for repairs of these units. APH is able to make some repairs, as long as they do not involve parts that are no longer available from the manufacturer. Although we will do our best to restore your VisioBook or Refreshabraille to working order, it may not be possible. We will look at each repair situation separately and let the sender know as quickly as we can if we can help.
We will not be accepting new VisioBook or Refreshabraille repairs for the immediate future, but will let you know as soon as possible when you can send us units to repair. We need to be fully prepared to manage repairs and are busily analyzing parts availability so that we can provide the servicing the units need.
