The Macaron: A Measuring and Navigation Device for the Blind

Does your blind student need to measure items for a math or science activity?  Check out this new measuring device that pairs with an iPhone app.  Bluetooth paired with the iPhone, the app automatically states out loud the item's measurements.  The Macaron has a short distance measuring tape (similar to a classic, retractable measuring tape) and two infrareds for mid to long range measuring.  The long range feature can be used to measure the dimensions of a room.

Use the Macaron to explore where objects are around you through stereo sounds and haptic feedback.
