Check for Accessibility Issues: Microsoft

Use Check Accessibility to identify accessibility issues in Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Similar to Spell Checker which tells you about possible spelling errors, Accessibility Checker in Word, Excel and PowerPoint alerts you to possible accessibility issues in your Office file.  Follow the simple step-by-step instructions to quickly run an accessibility check on your file. The accessibility check will classify potential issues as an Error, Warning or Tip.

For information on how to resolve each specific issue, see Rules used by Accessibility Checker.  These rules give detailed explanation of each kind of issue, why the issue should be fixed and how to fix the issue, which includes simple step-by-step instructions.

Teacher of the Visually Impaired Hint: This is a great post to share with general education teachers to help these teachers learn how to make their Word, Excel and PowerPoint files accessible!  Share this information with your students – especially students transitioning to college – to help students advocate for themselves.
