How many CEUs will I receive after completion of this course? Is the number of CEUs equal to the number of actual hours?

Posted by eLearning Help DeskDec 02, 2014

As you might expect, state, district, and regional regulations around professional development credits vary. To make this easier for our participants seeking professional development hours, we provide a uniform formula based on contact hours for all of our professional development offerings. For example, 25 professional development points or continuing education credits represents 25 clock hours committed to that development experience.

We find that this standardized expression of contact hours enables all participants to transfer Perkins experiences uniformly to their own regional requirements. Please contact your supervisor or representatives to determine whether Perkins eLearning credits are transferable to you.

Note that this course with Bookshare is also eligible for ACVREP credits.
We look forward to learning with you,

I am a retired Title I Reading Specialist from Oklahoma. I still hold a teaching certification. I am so excited about your program! I am curious about your program and if my certification could qualify students with dyslexia to participate. Getting students actually TESTED in the larger school systems is a huge problem. Students are allowed to have problems for two or three years before they can be tested.

Is this course a "work at your own pace" class, or is there a certain day and time for lecture/response?

Posted by Hannah LearyDec 12, 2014

Hi Cathy,

This particular class is instructor led, so at the beginning of each week during the class, the instructor will lay out that week's assignments and due dates. The lectures are not live, so they can be viewed at your convenience, but there are due dates for assignments.

We do offer a self-paced course for Bookshare that you can complete at any time. The class information can be viewed here:

Thanks for you question.
