Brain-Based Visual Impairment: An Overview

Description

This micro-credential is awarded to individuals who have successfully completed and passed the Brain-Based Visual Impairment: An Overview blended workshop. This blended workshop provides participants with the opportunity to become familiar with the patterns of dysfunction associate with brain-based visual impairment and identify some assessment methods and compensatory strategies for children with this diagnosis.

LEARNING OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:

Participants will:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of patterns of dysfunction associated with cerebral visual impairment.
  2. Identify methods of assessment for children who have cerebral visual impairment.
  3. Identify compensatory strategies that increase participation in and access to school, home, and community environments for children who have cerebral visual impairment.
  4. Identify ways in which the effects of cerebral visual impairment in individual children might affect their performance in pre-academic, academic, functional academic tasks as well as activities of daily living and orientation and mobility.

Courses Offered

This workshop discusses different ways in which Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) manifests in children and what to look for when a child is diagnosed with CVI.
