Special Education Teacher
Degree: M.Ed.
Experience:
I am currently a teacher of students with multiple disabilities in a substantially separate program and have worked with, made accomodations for, and evaluated students from kindergarten through middle school age. I consult with parents, service providers, and TVIs in order to ensure that my students are able to access their environment to the best of their abilities. In my classroom, students use tactile icons or object schedules to make choices and understand what is coming next. Anything that could produce visual clutter is covered in black fabric, and unnecessary sounds are kept to a minimum. Students in my classroom learn by interacting with the world around them and exploring real objects in order to make connections with academic concepts and life skills.
I am available to:
  • Provide ongoing, direct service to a child with CVI within 50 miles of my home address
  • Provide ongoing consultation and technical assistance to an educational team working with a child with CVI
  • Provide one time evaluation services and consultation
  • Provide training to an educational team
  • Provide consultation and support to family
